Table Place Marker for Tagboard Client Dinner
DCG One contacted Kurblink to see if we could design a solution to meet the needs of their client, Tagboard. Tagboard was having an event in Las Vegas and needed table place markers for their clients.
Everything from carbon fiber, to metal, to stone was considered as a possible medium. DCG One landed on stone and we began working on the design possibilities.
I made the horrific doodle (left) using my phone. While horrifically crude, it served as a leaping off point for what became an approved concept.
DCG and their client, Tagboard decided to use stone as represented in black, but eliminate the inserts.
A physical sample deepens the discussion
Using material we had on hand, Kurblink provided a sample for DCG and their client to review. A couple things were decided. Edge treatment was to be smooth rather than the chiseled look shown here. And there would be no groove for a cardstock insert.
Details continue to get sorted, but we were off and running.
When time is of the essence as was the case here, Kurblink has no problem getting off the line. Materials were ordered and not a moment too soon. We bought out the remaining inventory of the stone we had been prototyping with in order to have enough to fulfill the client order. It paid off in the end as we were able to deliver more than a week ahead of schedule. From the start of the initial discussion it took no more than 10 days to ship.
Infill colors were evaluated
Different colors of fill were evaluated. From white, to gold, to Tagboard's approximate teal brand color were explored. The teal really popped off the stone on this sample place marker.
Stone cut to size
Our 10" sliding wet tile saw did a fabulous job of cutting the stone to size and removing the chiseled factory edge.
Design chosen & engraved
The customer landed on a design they preferred. It would be the Tagboard hashtag logo without paint infill.
Parts finish sanded & packaged
The engraved parts received a finish sanding to ease edges for soft touch. They were then packaged in custom laser cut foam to protect them on their journey to Las Vegas for the client dinner.
